Space Marine 2 continues the story of Ultramarines Lieutenant Demetrian Titus a century after the events of the first game. The campaign will focus on Titus fighting the Tyranids. There are six playable classes in the game across Eternal War (PvP mode) and Operations (PvE mode).

The game offers customization of weapons and armors and in the Operations mode, players can use Armory Data and experience to upgrade the classes with up to 25 perks to shape your playstyle. The Armory Data will help players level up their weapons with new variants and cosmetics.

While this sounds exciting, there is a catch to the Space Marine 2 perks. According to the developer, the perks will be exclusive to the Operations mode. However, the armor and weapon cosmetics from PvE will be available in PvP. Here’s what it stated,

The armor and weapon cosmetics earned in “Operations” will even be available for your “Eternal War” matches, though your perks and weapon upgrades will remain exclusive to the PvE experience for balancing purposes.

This “exclusivity” to the perks and weapons in the PvE would seemingly also apply to the post-launch content of this mode that would add new missions, weapons, and enemies.

Fans Are Supportive of This Decision From the Developer

Fans are supportive of this and have said that the developer took the correct decision. One fan took to the game’s subreddit and shared this and fans have said that it would have been a big problem balancing some PvE perks in PvP.

Players also seem okay with the fact that the developer wants to focus on the PvE more than PvP. One fan said, “Great news. PvP and PvE should be balanced independent of each other.”

Another player said that Sniper class’s ability to go invisible and invulnerable and Assault class’s dodges would have been an issue in PvP.

But some are also worried that the PvP may suffer due to this and feel that it could be “shallow without being able to customize.” Yet the majority are saying that this is a good thing for the game in particular.
