It’s been a hot minute since beloved director Zack Snyder bid farewell to the DC Studios. However, that absolutely does not stop the OG fans from requesting to see him return to the director’s chair one more time. Even though James Gunn and Peter Safran have now taken over the reins of the DCU, Zack Snyder’s name has not left the fans’ minds.

The SnyderVerse is gone for good from the Studios. James Gunn and Peter Safran’s slate has already confirmed that it’s time to make some changes in the DCU. On one hand, the co-CEOs are building the DCU from scratch (almost), and on the other hand, fans are lobbying to bring back the good ol’ SnyderVerse. They desperately want Netflix to purchase its rights as they reminisce about the time when Zack Snyder was on the sets.

During his time at the DC Studios, Zack Snyder directed a few films – Man of Steel, Batman v Superman, and Watchmen. Even though he was supposed to be directing Justice League, he had to leave the film midway because of a tragic incident linked to his daughter. However, bowing down to fans’ demands, he returned to the Studios once again to give the film his own spin with Zack Snyder’s Justice League.

The OG fans of the superhero universe want to relive those moments of cinema once again. Taking to Twitter, they relived the scenes which made them stare in awe at their screens, all thanks to Snyder’s direction. From Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman saving Batman in Batman v Superman to the hair-raising scene where Henry Cavill’s Superman saves a girl, fans have a lot of scenes where they were just taken aback thanks to Snyder’s talents. They even compared his film, Watchmen (2009) to Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, one of the biggest cult classics when it comes to anime/manga. A fan stated that Watchmen had just as much philosophy and theology as FMAB.

Looking at all the responses from Snyder fans, it goes without saying why they are pushing for SnyderVerse to return. Fans want Snyder’s vision to continue, even if it’s not in the DCU itself.

Will the SnyderVerse be Sold to Netflix?

Snyder has long moved on from DC and he seems pretty content with the things he is doing right now. But the fans haven’t. Every superhero movie that has been released, or will be released, is compared to the bar set by Snyder’s work. The hashtag, #SellSnyderVerseToNetflix, has been heavily trending on Twitter and this just goes on to say that fans are not giving up. However, we don’t know if the efforts are going to bear any fruit.

Long story short, it does seem a highly unlikely outcome of the situation. James Gunn has himself called the whole ordeal the “wackiest thing ever.” Gunn cited two reasons; neither is Netflix interested in the deal nor has Snyder himself stated anything of the sort.

Gunn might be right about Snyder being content with his to-do list. He has a new sci-fi franchise kicking off later this year, starting with the film, Rebel Moon. Will Snyder ever look over his shoulder to answer his fans who so eagerly want him back? And even if he does, will it even be possible to move the SnyderVerse to Netflix? Seems quite unlikely. However, what do we have if not hope?

Snyder’s Rebel Moon will release on December 22, 2023.
