Speaking with TheWrap, the CW’s president of entertainment, Brad Schwartz revealed that the decision to cancel the show was not particularly in the hands of the network as the characters are owned by Warner Brothers. As DC boss James Gunn’s highly anticipated DC flick Superman: Legacy is slated for 2025 release, Warner Brothers does not want Superman property competing with the upcoming film.

“They don’t want a competing Superman product in the marketplace,” Schwartz said.

Schwartz further revealed that the fourth season of the show will be of the highest quality. “I watched the first episode last night, and it’s going to make you cry,” he said. Further, he promised a satisfying ending to the fan-favorite show.

The 2022 movie, The Batman starring Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne grossed over $772.2 million at the global box office. But as The Flash director, Andrés Muschietti is set to direct Brave and the Bold, mainline DC might go after the outskirt movie, as per the concern evolving among fans.
