Florence Pugh is a somewhat underrated actress that deserves more recognition in mainstream Hollywood. Warner Bros. in their attempt to find the spotlight has considered Florence Pugh’s nomination as the Best Actress for Don’t Worry Darling.
Not only this, but the controversies surrounding the cast and crew of Don’t Worry Darling is enough for people to dislike the film in which Florence Pugh becomes collateral damage.
Florence Pugh Does Not Have The Audience’s Support
Directed by Olivia Wilde, Don’t Worry Darling follows the life of a husband-wife duo living in an experimental city called Victory. The film depicts gender-specified roles and duties following which cracks start to appear in this perfect simulation.

Although the plot, as interesting as it sounds, did not manage to hold the film together as the cast and crew fell apart during the filming. Despite the controversies, Don’t Worry Darling managed to get a 74% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes and a low 38% critic score.
Florence Pugh, who leads the film as Alice found herself in the spotlight when WB named her a nomination for the best actress. Fans (or not so-fans) took to Twitter to react to the news and how neither the film nor the acting is award-worthy.

Florence Pugh indeed has had some great roles to her name such as Yelena Belova in Black Widow (2021), Dani in Midsommar (2019), and will be seen in Dune 2 (2023). Despite the acting skills that the fine actress possesses, it seems that the failure of the movie is the reason for people’s unhelpful reaction. To add fuel to the fire, some people also state that this is the only movie that Warner Bros. Discovery can submit to the Academy Awards since 2022 was not really their year!
