Antony Starr has been known around the world for portraying the role of Homelander in Amazon’s The Boys. With an iconic role to his name, his character is often seen cursing and killing mercilessly with some very gore effects.
In an Instagram video, the lead of the series, Jack Quaid (who plays Hughie Campbell) is seen mocking Starr. Being a Homelander in real life, the actor curses Quaid and goes on about his day while Jack Quaid jokingly says that they “are friends in real life”.
Antony Starr And Jack Quaid Are Friends In Real Life
Portraying the role of Hughie Campbell and Homelander respectively, Jack Quaid and Antony Starr have often collided on the screens. Off-screen, Quaid regains his normal composure but it seems that Starr needs some time to become human again.
In an Instagram video, hilarity ensues when Jack Quaid is seen performing a mock interview on Antony Starr. Sitting in the car, Quaid asks Starr, “I’m here with one of the stars of the show, Mr. Antony Starr. Isn’t that funny that your name is also Starr?”. In a cool celebrity-like composure, Starr replied with a poker face, “Oh yeah, hilarious”.
Jack Quaid further asked, “So what’s the best part of playing Homelander?” and Starr had the perfect answer ready. Making himself comfortable, the actor sat upright and had the perfect answer to make Jack Quaid shut up.
“Not having to do any f*cking scenes with you”
Although Quaid is taken aback by the statements, the actor quickly recovers and states that “We are friends in real life”. With Starr essentially portraying a psychopath version of Superman or Captain America, Antony Starr was insecure about his looks since he thought the role would go to Henry Cavill.
When Antony Starr Complimented Henry Cavill
Before Starr was finalized for the role of Homelander, the actor didn’t read the script for a week and a half. Thinking that the superhero role should go to Henry Cavill instead of him, Starr was very insecure about his own body as he revealed to Metro UK.
“I didn’t look at [the script] for a week and a half and then I saw it was a superhero thing and I thought they’re not going to pick me anyway, I’m not made for that. Henry Cavill’s 12 feet tall, built like a 12 foot brick sh*t house and he’s wonderful, handsome, and charming-I’m not going to get that.”
Well, Antony Starr proved himself wrong with his iconic portrayal of Homelander in Amazon’s The Boys. With 3 seasons to its name, the actors are currently busy finishing season 4 of The Boys. The Antony Starr series is available to stream on Prime Video around the world.
