James Gunn’s tenure as the co-CEO of DC Studios has altered the scenario of the very DC landscape. Gunn’s reign is a hint of the end of Zack Snyder’s very own Snyderverse and the cast of the frontline superheroes as he envisioned a different DC Universe.

Gunn’s decision to replace the major superheroes is indeed a bold and surprising move but it rolled out anyway. However, there is criticism for the revamp as well. Many fans and industry experts are critical of Gunn’s move given the recent box office history of the DC slates.

The huge transition from Snyderverse to Gunn-Verse is surprising as James Gunn has announced the DC revamp after his takeover of DC as the studio’s co-head. Gunn has already rolled out his plans for DC slates and new casts which became even clear after he replaced Henry Cavill as Superman a.k.a. Kal-El or Clark Kent with David Corenswet. Gunn has also cast some other actors for his new Superman movie, Superman: Legacy stating that all the new cast will appear across the DC Universe.

Charles Roven, Gunn’s close friend, and producer of Snyderverse, however, has concerns about Gunn’s decision. Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, the producer revealed his concerns as the big change could be a bit of a hassle as DC has already established its premises with Zack Snyder.

“Right now, they’re really rebooting everything, and it’s a little bit unclear to me exactly how finite their desire is to use or not use any DCEU actors in the same roles. So I’m not really sure, but at the moment, we’re not really having any discussions. James and I are good friends. My wife and I are very good friends with him and his wife, Jenn [Holland]. And so we see each other socially, but we’re not really talking about any business.”

Of course, Gunn is not changing all the previous characters but the big change in the frontline DC characters and the unconfirmed fate of some other characters have really placed an exclamation mark. Fans will have to wait until Gunn’s original slates roll out to see the success of his tenure.

As per reports, Gunn is currently working on a series of movies which includes his very own, Superman: Legacy, and other slates like The Authority, The Brave and the Bold, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, Swamp Thing, and two Elseworld movies, Joker 2 and The Batman Part 2.

Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot has recently teased the development of Wonder Woman 3 with DC co-heads Peter Safran and Gunn promising her return to the franchise after her co-stars Cavill and Ben Affleck had to depart from the studio.

“I had a meeting with Peter Safran and with James Gunn, and they both told me that they’re going to develop a third ‘Wonder Woman with me. And I’m quoting both of them, they said, ‘You’re in the best hands, you’ve got nothing to worry about.’ Time will tell,” Gadot said.

Contrary to Gadot’s claim, a source told Variety that Gadot’s meeting with the DC heads never happened and DC currently has no plans for a Wonder Woman movie project except the Wonder Woman prequel Max series Paradise Lost. As of now, Gadot’s movie is hanging on a thread and her future in the DCEU is also questionable given the state of her co-stars departing from the studio.
