“We’re totally open to casting a non-star,” Broccoli stated. “But acting is a very specialized profession, and if somebody has to carry a movie and have the range of requirements [for Bond] in terms of physicality.”

She confirmed that although the role would not be given to an entirely new actor, it is not too out of pocket for them to hire someone who is not as renowned as many of the stars who were previously listed to be in line for the role of Bond.

The Role of James Bond Comes with Responsibility

Barbara Broccoli, via Yahoo Entertainment, claimed that it would be an irresponsible thing to hire an actor with little to no experience. The role of James Bond comes with great stature and fame, one that also comes with the high regard of an audience’s opinion. To bring a star who does not fit the frame of the role would ruin the heart of James Bond’s essence completely.

“It’s not going to be someone who has never done it before. It would be sort of irresponsible to do that. But we’d certainly be open to a non-star.”

Broccoli confirmed that getting someone who does not understand the responsibility that is being put on their shoulders could either make the character or break it. There is no middle ground when it comes to the same. So the role would go to either a big-name celebrity or someone not as renowned.
