PlayStation 5 fans are not very fortunate this year; the crop of exclusives that are coming to this platform will be noticeably thinner in 2024. But the few games that are being released for this platform are incredibly well made. Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth, Silent Hill 2, and this year’s biggest surprise hit, Helldivers 2.

This is a third-person shooter multiplayer game with co-op mechanics. And despite being a game-as-a-service title, it is going strong. It goes beyond its prequel and offers its fans a brand-new experience. But like every live-service game, it has some issues, but its developers were quick to respond to the outcry and have promised a fix.

Arrowhead Game Studios promises a fix for Helldivers 2’s no-reward problem

The first game in this series came out back in 2015; it was also a co-op action shooter. The only thing is that it had an overhead camera view; people also call it a bird’s-eye view. But Arrowhead Game Studios decided to make the sequel bigger and better. In that attempt, they made it a massive third-person shooter.

With all the original’s fun mechanics retained, this sequel is prevailing. Fans and critics both showed it a lot of love. As a result, the game ended with an impressive 83 Metacritic score. Despite its numerous yet minor faults, this game is doing much better than its competition.

But it does have some flaws; one of them is not even minor. It is so frustrating that people are actively complaining. The issue is related to the reward handouts in the game. Whenever players complete a scenario or a mission, they are handed a reward, but some unusual big glitch or whatever it might be is stopping players from getting their rewards.

No doubt it is annoying as well as agitating; hence, they have started complaining. But the studio behind this game is listening, and they have already made a statement regarding the same. Recently, Helldiver 2’s Deputy Game Director, Sagar Beroshi, made a statement. Here’s the gist of what this statement says:

“We’re aware of a problem that has caused some player rewards to not pay out properly at the end of missions. We are working on a fix for this, but in the meantime, we want to try to alleviate the impact as we head into the weekend.”

Besides this, they are also giving all players XP and Requisition at a 50% multiplier on top of their base mission score. In the meantime, until this issue gets fixed, this can be a great compromise. Here’s hoping they give out the rewards that players have missed too.

Given how fast they responded, though, it sure looks like Arrowhead Game Studios is very serious about fixing this issue. Maybe fans would not be waiting much longer before a patch shows up.

Helldivers 2 is already racing to be a very successful game

It is a very surprising thing that, despite being a live-service shooter, Helldivers 2 is quickly becoming a success. It was reported recently that, going beyond the estimates of its developers and publishers, it has successfully touched around 1 million units within a week of its launch. In fact, it is such a big hit on Steam that it has passed God of War‘s concurrent peak player numbers with 81,840.

No doubt it would go on to become a larger success eventually. These days, even the most unexpected of games can end up being incredibly successful. Last year’s Baldur’s Gate 3 is a living, breathing example of this.
