Being the first video game series that Hidetaka Miyazaki worked on back in 2005, the Armored Core franchise stands out due to its unique mecha-fighting theme, deviating from the Dark Fantasy releases the studio is known for.

Despite being older than Elden Ring and even the Dark Souls trilogy, the said series holds a special place in the renowned director’s heart, which even prompted him to put together a team dedicated to working on the latest release of AC VI: Fires of Rubicon, which was released last year and was headed by none other than Masaru Yamamura.

As stated before, the franchise revolves around mechs and fast-paced combat happens to be the first project that the renowned director Hidetaka Miyazaki took upon himself. Apart from the sentimental value the franchise holds, it also helps the studio keep one of its feet out of the Dark Fantasy waters in the industry.

Talking about how the development of the latest game came to be, Yasunori Ogura, the producer of the game, revealed the following through an interview via PlayStation Blog.

As for the process leading up to the development of this title, our company’s President, Hidetaka Miyazaki, myself, the director, Yamamura, and many other members of the development team all really wanted to create a new Armored Core game. We also fostered a team of very talented people through our experience in developing other titles, so we basically had no reason not to go ahead with the development of a new Armored Core.

The producer mentioned in the interview how the renowned director teamed up with other talented individuals came together to create a new installment in the franchise after a decade, as there was no particular reason not to use the experience they had gathered over the years to do something good.

Is There A New Armored Core Game Coming Anytime Soon?

It was after the release of Elden Ring back in 2022 that FromSoftware decided to release the latest installment in the Armored Core franchise. Despite being in development since 2018, it was not until 2023 that fans finally got to experience the game for themselves, and now players wonder if they will get to see a new release anytime soon.

With Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC coming out in just a few days, it remains imminent that the studio will soon pick up on another project, and fans hope that the director would like to revisit one of his earliest franchises once again, something he has hinted himself in another interview.
