Even among the top talent from Hollywood’s hierarchy, Brad Pitt stands out as one of the most popular and talented stars in the industry thanks to a long list of spectacular performances in many blockbusters through the years. But despite being one of the biggest stars in the business, Pitt still has to compete, and there’s one star he admits to having a rivalry with.

And that star is none other than the mega-successful and highly popular Tom Cruise. Thus, due to their positions in the industry being at the same level as each other, a sense of rivalry is bound to emerge. Although this might be the reason why we don’t see them together in any films anymore, it could’ve changed due to this one film.

Just like two seasoned Chess players wouldn’t be able to contain themselves from going against in a match with each other to see who’s the best, Brad Pitt felt a similar emotion while working on Interview With The Vampire alongside co-star Tom Cruise. Both of them were able to make a super successful film in the end, but they had to take each other’s personalities into consideration and work with each other the best they could.

“You gotta understand, Tom and I are… we walk in different directions, He’s North Pole. I’m South. I always thought there was this underlying competition that got in the way of any real conversation, It wasn’t nasty by any means, not at all. But it was just there and it bugged me a bit. But I’ll tell you, he catches a lot of shit because he’s on top, but he’s a good actor and he advances in the film. He did it. I mean, you have to respect that.”

Although they never did any other films after that, there was a time when they could’ve been seen together on screen once more.

While Matt Damon and Christian Bale became the faces that would lead the film Ford V Ferrari at the box office, the scene would’ve been completely different as Cruise and Pitt were the first choices for director Joseph Kosinski. According to him, he had brought both the stars to read the script, but due to budget constraints, he had to drop them as both of them were highly sought-after stars, which would also mean they would have to be compensated accordingly.
