My Adventures With Superman is part of a heroic lineage of shows that follow the Big Blue Boy Scout of Metropolis but still fall short in one area. Superman: The Animated Series still remains one of the best iterations of the character and his mythos, and not just because it is an important iteration of the character. It is also down to the fact that Superman got to play around in a connected universe with other heroes, especially Batman.
Superman: The Animated Series shared a universe with Batman: The Animated Series and the two Justice League shows helmed by Bruce Timm. This facilitated some crossovers, such as when Bruce Wayne showed up in Superman: The Animated Series, which added a lot to the show, and was considered one of its best episodes.
World’s Finest Parts 1, 2, and 3 saw Superman interact with Batman for the first time in the DCU
‘World’s Finest‘ was a three-part story that aired as a part of Superman: The Animated Series, which saw the Bat of Gotham enter Metropolis.
A coalition of the Joker and Lex Luthor put both the characters on their back foot, given that Superman was no match for The Joker’s cunning, while Batman had trouble keeping up with the resources that Lex Luthor had provided the Joker with. Batman and Superman would then team up to fight and defeat Lex Luthor and the Joker.
Apart from the adventures that they shared heroes, Bruce Wayne also meets Lois Lane, much to Clark Kent’s displeasure. However, this is shown as a temporary rivalry between the two men, before the show begins to develop a friendship between the two, which would be continued in the Justice League shows.
Batman is not showing up in My Adventures With Superman any time soon
An Executive Producer on the show, Jake Wyatt, talked about how Batman is nowhere close to making an appearance in My Adventures With Superman. He said:
We don’t have any control over that, but if you would like to see that happen, you need to supplicate a higher power…it would be great if you can make that happen for us.
If fans do want to see Batman in My Adventures With Superman, Wyatt suggests that fans should approach the higher-ups in the DC wing of WB, which could mean that they might need to start making their preferences known on social media. James Gunn might be on the precipice of canceling the show (as was the case with Superman and Lois) as it too counts as a competing property to the DCU that Gunn is trying to build.
However, no such indications have been made public by WB or James Gunn, and the show seems safe for now. This might cause fans to take to social media and let their preferences for the show be known, if they truly wish to see Batman in the show.
My Adventures With Superman can be streamed on HBO Max
