In Sam Levinson’s Euphoria, Sydney Sweeney gave one of her most powerful performances as Cassie Howard. The series which saw the star playing a self-destructive and s*xually explicit character, expectedly required Sweeney to expose herself physically on screen. But the young actor made a case for herself and her character by opposing some of the graphic content.

Sydney Sweeney Called Out Unnecessary Exposure in Euphoria

Sydney Sweeney played the vengeful and openly s*xual Cassie Howard in Sam Levinson’s Euphoria starring Zendaya in the lead role. This gritty realistic drama about teenaged drug addicts became a huge blockbuster. It also contained many scenes of graphic s*xual content especially with relation to Sweeney’s character. The White Lotus star though, was openly against putting herself and her character through unnecessary exposure and requested her director Sam Levinson to tone down some of the scenes that did not require excessive n*dity.

“There are moments where Cassie was supposed to be shirtless and I would tell Sam, ‘I don’t really think that’s necessary here. He was like, ‘Okay, we don’t need it.’

While there were many criticisms targeted at Levinson for trying to bring in too much graphic n*dity into his show, Sweeney was quick to clarify that the director was extremely receptive to her suggestions and understood her point of view. She also revealed that Levinson respected her wishes and toned down the content based on her opinions.

Sydney Sweeney Lives Life Through Her Characters

Sydney Sweeney is one of Hollywood’s most talented rising stars who has catapulted to superstardom owing to her performances in prominent projects like Euphoria, The White Lotus, and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. One of the reasons for Sweeney being considered a powerhouse performer is her ability to internalize her characters and create her own back stories for them while working on set. This skill, she confessed, helped her to understand the nuances of the role more deeply.

“It’s these character books that are an interactive timeline journal or diary of their entire lives, from the day that they’re born to the first page of the script. I go so in depth in the backstory that it’s not like one event that creates the person,”
