Benedict Cumberbatch Agrees With Martin Scorsese

The renowned Hollywood filmmaker Martin Scorsese sparked a debate after his 2019 interview with Empire Magazine, where he stated that Marvel movies are not cinema and referred to them as “theme parks.” However, he is not the only filmmaker to have made such a statement about the superhero franchise.

Acclaimed filmmakers like Jodie Foster, Francis Ford Coppola, Ridley Scott, and many others have also shared their criticism of the franchise. The MCU stars, however, have had varied opinions when it comes to Scorsese’s statement, as many have defended the superhero universe, while others have supported his claims.

Benedict Cumberbatch chose to join the latter group as he stepped into the ongoing discussion about superhero blockbusters. During his appearance on The Jenny McCarthy Show, the Avengers: Endgame star addressed the issue and said that he agreed with Scorsese’s argument.
