Kurt Russell is one of the many Hollywood icons, who has become synonymous with Quentin Tarantino’s filmography. While Russell, whose career spans over five decades, has only starred in two Tarantino projects, Death Proof and The Hateful Eight, his presence in the films made for a pretty memorable experience.
And with the acclaimed director’s last film, The Movie Critic approaching next year, rumors emerged claiming several of Tarantino’s frequent collaborators might be joining in for the ride. On asked about the matter, Kurt Russell revealed that he has no idea if he’ll be in The Movie Critic but did entertain the idea of reuniting with the director.

Kurt Russell Entertained the Idea of Working on Quentin Tarantino’s The Movie Critic
While the Monarch Star stated that he has no idea as of now, the actor did express that he’d love to join forces with Quentin Tarantino for his last ride. While recounting his time with the director on Death Proof, the Tombstone Star recalled Tarantino made up his mind about retiring at 60 back in 2007. And even if reuniting with the Oscar-winner meant carrying water for the lead, Kurt Russell would still tune it, stating that Tarantino is “just a fun person to work with”. Speaking with Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, he said,
I have no idea, I never know. He just calls up or someone calls up and he says hey, and you just go to work. I love working with him and he said a long time ago when we did Death Proof part of Grindhouse, he said “yeah I’m gonna do 10. By the time I’m 60 i’m pretty much going to be done. We had a long conversation about that which was really interesting so I guess he’s sticking to it. He’s since talked about that and I think his reasoning is spot on. If he wants me to carry the lead’s water, I will, I don’t care who it is. I mean he’s just a fun person to work with, quite amazing.
Apart from Kurt Russell, it’ll also be interesting to see if some of his other prominent collaborators will be joining in or not, as per a rumor, DiCaprio was in talks about starring in The Movie Critic.
Leonardo Dicaprio Will Not Be Leading Quentin Tarantino’s Final Outing
Per a rumor circulated by scooper Daniel Richtman, Leonardo DiCaprio was offered to star in The Movie Critic prior to the SAG-AFTRA strike, but things were halted after the strike came into effect. And while it’d be not surprising to witness the Revenant Star collaborating with Tarantino for his last outing, he will not be the main lead, as Tarantino revealed it’ll be someone new in the 35-year-old ballpark. He said,
“I haven’t decided yet but it’s going to be somebody in the 35 year-old ball park. It’ll definitely be a new leading man for me,”
