Chris Pine Speaks Up on the Infamous SpitGate Incident

The cast of Don’t Worry Darling joined the 2022 Venice Film Festival for its world premiere. Clips from the film festival started going viral, in which Harry Styles seemed to have spat on his co-star.

Pine, however, did not say anything about it at the moment, and a statement was released saying that the Eternals actor did not spit on Pine, and both of them have nothing but respect for each other. Chris Pine has now finally shared what really happened between him and his co-star and the reality behind the infamous incident during his recent interview with Esquire.

He called his co-star a “kind guy” as he said that Harry Styles did not spit on him. Pine shared that it was a joke between them for being jetlagged. He shared that the My Policeman star leaned down and asked him, “It’s just words, isn’t it?”

“Because we had this little joke. Because we’re all jetlagged, we’re all trying to answer these questions, and sometimes when you’re doing these press things, your brain goes all befuddled, you know, you start speaking gibberish, and we had a joke like, ‘It’s just words, man.'”

He also shared that he had no information about the whole thing until he was informed by his publicist. The Unstoppable star shared that he was asked to “craft a message” about what happened in Venice. He was then told about the spitting incident. Pine also admitted that it does seem like Styles spit on him. However, the actor claimed nothing like that happened, and no one spat on him.

Is Chris Pine Telling the Truth?

People do not seem to follow up with Chris Pine’s explanation of what happened during the 2022 Venice Film Festival. Although he claimed that his co-star did not spit on him and that it was just an inside joke, people still believe that there is more to what happened. They called Pine’s simplification false, claiming that the footage is still available on the internet and they can clearly see what happened.

Many even shared that they had totally forgotten about the incident before this interview. While some referred to Pine as the “only kind person” in the cast, others called the incident another failed publicity stunt for Don’t Worry Darling. Many even joked and asked if the Just My Luck star is being threatened or silenced by Harry Styles. And some still believe that Styles did spit on Chris Pine.
