if fans of the superhero world have to single out a film they are most excited about, we are pretty sure for most it will be Deadpool 3. Not only does the film bring back our favorite blunt and hilarious super-antihero, but it also brings back Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine years after we said goodbye to him. Not to mention that this is Deadpool’s official entry into the MCU and its first R-rated film!

However, for those of you who thought that the film will see Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman in a buddy-cop style bromance, we have bad news for you. Hugh Jackman has said it loud and clear that Logan and Wade Wilson will not be on good terms as they both hate each other and the former wants to be as far away from the latter as possible.

During his appearance on The Empire Film Podcast, Hugh Jackman talked about what you should and should not expect from Deadpool 3. Concisely, you should not look forward to a Wade Wilson and Logan team up, rather you should expect a lot of head-butting between the two. He stated that the two hate each other and in his perspective, Logan is absolutely frustrated with Ryan Reynold’s character.

When asked to categorize the relationship between the two characters, Jackman stated,

“How do I categorize it? Ten being really close, zero being the reality, we are zero, we are opposites, hate each other. I’m just talking from my perspective. Logan is frustrated by Deadpool, wants to be as far away from him as possible, or wants to punch him in the head. Unfortunately, he can’t be a million miles away from him in this movie, so I’m probably going to punch him in the head a lot.”

We are really hoping that similar to the enemies-to-lovers genre, the two end up working out their differences on their adventure! Wade and Logan will be an uncanny duo and we are here for it.

In an interview with Variety, Jackman opened up about how he was feeling now that he is reprising a character he had said goodbye to. He stated that he does not know if it is age or arrogance, but he believes he is going to be a better Wolverine now, than before.

“A little part of me now thinks I’d be better at it. Is that arrogance or age or something? Wolverine’s a tortured character – more tortured than me. But I always get the feeling of him being comfortable in his own skin. And I feel more comfortable in my own skin now, even though it’s messier.”

He then talked about what made him return to the character. Jackson stated that after confirming that he is retiring from Wolverine, he went to see Deadpool in 2016 and his return has been brewing since then in his mind.

“I went to the screening of Deadpool. I was 20 minutes in and I was like, ‘Ah, damn it!’ All I kept seeing in my head was 48 Hrs with Nick Nolte and Eddie Murphy. So it’s been brewing for a long time. It just took me longer to get here.”

Looking at the sincerity with which Jackman is returning to play Wolverine, we can say with surety that it’s going to be one of his best performances of all time!

Deadpool 3 is set for a November 08, 2024 release date.
