Euphoria actress Hunter Schafer was arrested along with 50 others for disrupting President Joe Biden’s appearance on The Late Night Show with Seth Meyers. Schafer became a fan-favorite after portraying a transgender teenager, Jules Vaughn, in the HBO teen drama series. The actress’ arrest during a protest in support of Palestine has fans questioning whether Euphoria will keep her for the upcoming third season.
Fans speculated that Schafer will be written out of the show and killed off-screen due to her current detention. Hunter Schafer was also seen as Tigris Snow in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes in 2023.
Hunter Schafer’s Arrest Leads Fans To Speculate The Fate Of Her Euphoria Character

The Belle actress appeared in a protest outside 30 Rockefeller Center in New York where President Joe Biden was making an appearance on The Late Night Show with Seth Meyers. Schafer’s arrest did bring a lot of attention to the issue. However, some fans were more worried about her fate in Euphoria, the HBO teen drama series adapted from an Israeli miniseries. Many fans speculated that it was the end of the road for Schafer’s Jules Vaughn in the series. One fan on X shared that the show will be killing off Hunter Schafer’s character in the next season.
One fan even went on to speculate that Schafer’s involvement in the protest would have a bigger impact on season 3 of the series. One other fan shared that Schafer took a huge risk considering the show’s Israeli roots. However, several fans supported the actress’ decision and called her a queen. Several fan reactions read:

This is not the first time Schafer has been involved in such activism. She is an LGBT rights activist and was named as the youngest plaintiff in the ACLU’s lawsuit, Carcaño v. McCrory, against North Carolina’s bill HB2 (via myfox8.com). For her activism against the bill to prevent trans people from using the bathroom corresponding to their gender identity, she was named in Teen Vogue‘s “21 Under 21” list.
Hunter Schafer’s Euphoria Season 3 Is Coming Out In 2025
Euphoria Season 2 finale premiered on HBO in February 2022. However, fans were given the news that the series had been renewed for a third season on February 4, 2022. The Euphoria Instagram account, along with HBO, announced the renewal of the series. The third season was supposed to arrive in 2023, however, the writer’s strike delayed the production. Francesca Orsi, Vice President of HBO programming, announced that the show will air in 2025. She shared (via Elle):
“We can’t start shooting. So the delivery of that show — ideally in 2025 — will be determined on when we can pick back up with Sam [Levinson], who at this point is [not writing] and just finishing on The Idol.”
Euphoria had a few tragic losses along the way. Kevin Turen, the co-founder of Little Lamb Productions alongside Sam and Ashley Levinson, passed away at the age of 44 in 2023. Actor Angus Cloud also died of an accidental drug overdose in 2023. Apart from the losses, Barbie Ferreira, who plays Kat, also revealed that she wouldn’t be returning for season 3.
HBO and the series are yet to make a statement about Schafer’s arrest. Euphoria is now available for streaming on Max.
