James Gunn is one lucky man to get an opportunity to work with two of the biggest franchises in the world (Marvel and DCEU). But he has already bid goodbye to Marvel Studios after directing the last Guardians Of The Galaxy Volume 3 movie. He will now be leading DC as the CEO and Chairman alongside Peter Safran. This happened right after Walter Hamda stepped down from his presidential position at DC Studios.

Guardians of the Galaxy first debuted in the year 2014 and volume three will arrive in theatres this year on May 5th. This emotional journey of the guardians will come to an end with this film. Gunn has been associated with Marvel for almost a decade. He does accept he got to learn a lot while making these Guardians films. Recently in one of the interviews, the filmmaker brought up Marvel and DC movie comparison.  He says that the Superman movie will be different than the Gotg ones and will not have the same vibe.

“To be frank, I think the better Marvel movies do, it’s better for DC, and the better DC movies do, it’s better for Marvel. When people see bad movies, they don’t want to spend more money on seeing more movies. So you want good movies to happen.”

Further Gunn explained how making good movies is important as people won’t buy tickets if something rubbish is shown on screen. According to him an incredible story should be told and should have an emotional connection with the audience.

“It has to do with the kind of stories that get to be told, and if you lose your eye on the ball, which is character. We love Superman. We love Batman. We love Iron Man. Because they’re these incredible characters that we have in our hearts. And if it becomes just a bunch of nonsense onscreen, it gets really boring. But I get fatigued by most spectacle films, by the grind of not having an emotionally grounded story.”

Well, it would be great to see what James Gunn’s new approach to DCEU films will be.

Henry Cavill has bid adieu to the DC Universe as he has already hung up his cape. Previously after his cameo in Black Adam, fans were hoping for his return. But sadly, the new leaders of the DC had some other plans for the franchise. Currently, it’s announced that Superman Legacy is in the works. It’s known that the film will get a theatrical release in the year 2025 on July 11th.

James Gunn will be the in-charge of writing and producing the DC film. This Superman reboot won’t be an origin story, which opens the possibility of exploring the character like never before instead of telling the already-known story. As of now, it’s still under wraps as to who will take on the mantle of Superman after beloved Henry Cavill. The plotline and cast details are not yet disclosed, as the movie is still in its initial phase of production.
