The eagerly anticipated Shawn Levy Marvel Superhero film was put on hold a few days after the release of the first movie poster, which starred Reynolds as Wade Wilson or Deadpool and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.

Now that the writers’ strike has delayed the release of Deadpool 3, Reynolds appears to be focusing on a new project, which is a fan favorite. Yes, the ALF, or Alien Life Form, is returning to Earth, and we can’t stop thanking the wonderful X-Men star for that.

Paul Fusco, the man (creator) behind ALF, and Shout! Studios are helping the actor to make this happen. The first series of the Maximum Effort Channel’s Maximum Moments will debut on July 29, 2023.

What is even cooler is that the Canadian-American actor was motivated to do this because he was an avid fan of ALF when he was younger. He is said to enjoy taking chances and making events enjoyable and entertaining. According to a statement from Maximum Effort, Reynolds said:

“We love taking risks and blurring the lines between shows and sponsorship because we believe both can be equally entertaining.”

The actor, 46, added the following:

“Besides my irrational love of ALF growing up, one of the reasons we licensed this show was precisely because Paul, Shout! Studios and our intrepid brand partners wanted to plot with us to bring ALF back to life.”

It has been gratifying to watch Reynolds advance his career in Hollywood while upholding his passions from his youth by bringing back ALF. We will be keeping an eye on the actor to see what else he can come up with while Deadpool 3 waits until the WGA and SAG strikes are over.

Regrettably, the plans were ultimately shelved that same year because the project could not find a suitable platform. But then, in February 2022, Shout! Factory announced that it had acquired the rights to ALF and that it intended to produce new related content.
