Arrowhead CEO Johan Pilestedt believes adding a Gatling Gun to Helldivers 2 will require a lot of mechanics.

Replying to Arrowhead CEO Johan Pilestedt, a fan suggested adding a handheld Gatling gun to Helldivers 2. Pilestedt promptly replied stating he might just have the weapon added, but only if the gun accurately represents the insane recoil.

Pilestedt also mentioned that a lot of mechanics have to go right to have the Gatling gun work seamlessly.

Another fan mentioned how it would just run out of ammo in 15 seconds to which Pilestedt replied saying a teammate could carry extra ammo drums. It wouldn’t be an easy task either, to carry an extra load of ammo.

One other fan suggested having a deployable tripod setup with a 3-second deployment time for the Gatling gun. Others came up with more unique ideas including adding AI soldiers who could help out in carrying ammo or the Gatling gun.

Helldivers 2 has several similar weapons in place including the fan-favorite Breaker and the Liberator, both of which don’t slow down players and still cause a lot of damage.

Breaker, Railgun, and Flamethrower Continue to be Fan-Favorite Weapons For Now

The Flamethrower in Helldivers 2 remains a fan-favorite weapon for close combat takedowns.
The Flamethrower in Helldivers 2 remains a fan-favorite weapon for close combat takedowns.

The Breaker in Helldivers 2 recently got patched and now has a better recoil, but if used conservatively and precisely, is the best weapon for divers. The Railgun is a single-shot weapon that’s also a fan-favorite for the ability to take down enemies with a single headshot.

The Flamethrower was also recently patched and gained a 50% damage boost, making it a must-have for close-quarter takedowns. As for the rest, the Slugger deals high damage, however, it’s not as easy to carry around and handle. The Scythe is an accurate laser that’s useful in taking down robots, but not as effective with bugs.

It could be a worthy wait to see what’s added next to the game, and if Pilestedt could come up with a way to add the Gatling gun. It could once again break the game as it did when players swarmed in to obtain the game’s first Mech. The title continues to garner more and more new players and Helldivers 2 will likely remain one of the best live-service releases of this year.
