Call of Duty is one of the most lucrative franchises in all the video game history. Since Infinity Ward launched Call of Duty: Modern Warfare back in 2008, every single new title has been a success in sales.
Of course, not all the titles were well received by the community, but the name Call of Duty has remained strong for more than twenty years. This includes a project that never saw the light, like Call of Duty code name NX1, which just leaked some footage in X.

A user in X has posted leaked footage of gameplay of what could be Call of Duty developed by Neversoft that never saw the light. This project with the code name NX1, also called Call of Duty: Future Warfare, leaked some story mode gameplay and multiplayer videos that already went viral in X.
This FPS would have been launched instead of Call of Duty: Ghosts back in 2013. That particular game was not well received by critics and players. So this NX1 title was first leaked by X user above, who just uploaded a video to his account. In this clip, we saw some kind of space mission that looks a lot like Call of Duty and is obviously all in beta for internal use only.
At the start of the mission, we see a Neversoft logo, a studio that was part of the Activision group in charge of Guitar Hero and Tony Hawk Games. This studio was closed forever back in July 2014. According to X user BrianBright, he answered the tweet by saying that he was part of the team that did the first mission for the game. He adds that this was right after Infinity Ward imploded and Activision had to change the studio for new CoD projects.
This was NX1, after IW imploded and split into Respawn Neversoft pivoted from Guitar Hero to make a futuristic COD game. This mission was on the moon, some experiments with low g and was really about the team learning the engine. We were making GH games on our THPS engine prior.

Another X user reposted that clip with a supposed gameplay of the multiplayer of NX1/Call of Duty: Future Warfare. Keeping in line with the first footage, it seems that all is real and was never finished being released to the public, due to the early cancelation, no doubt. People continue to surface with information and clips of this canceled game.
According to X user TheNathanNS, this footage and beta of NX1 were circulating on Reddit more than twelve years ago. All inside an Xbox 360 devkit that was on sale for U$D 150 and had all the footage and missions of the game. For the moment, this version of the game cannot be found anywhere.
The most recent Call of Duty instalment available is Modern Warfare 3. This entry was not so well received by the players and critics, with a 56 overall score on Metacritic. This is the worst-scored Call of Duty game in history. Activision will launch another title this year for the franchise, and they’ll be hoping that this will fare better with fans and critics alike.
