Netflix’s Daredevil series has been regarded as one of the best superhero shows of all time. Many fans believed it showed the most organic and authentic portrayal of Daredevil yet as Charlie Cox put on the performance of his career. Thankfully, Cox is returning soon and now it appears Iron Fist might also get another shot at redemption following Daredevil.

Just like all good things eventually come to an end, the same happened for Daredevil. The show ended after its third season on Netflix as the streaming platform stopped producing Marvel shows in general. As we already noted above, Cox will be reprising his role in Echo very soon and fans can’t wait for it to release.

Netflix’s Daredevil Is Now Considered Canon In The MC

Despite Charlie Cox stating that the upcoming MCU show, Daredevil: Born Again, won’t continue the Netflix series, the concept of the multiverse in comic book films has blurred lines now. Initially deemed a separate entity, recent developments suggest that Marvel may no longer view the Netflix series as entirely unrelated to the MCU.

While speaking to Screen Rant, Marvel Cinematic Universe executive producer Brad Winderbaum made it clear that he considers the original Netflix series to be MCU canon now. He mentioned that there was previously a cautious approach regarding what is considered part of the “Sacred Timeline,” indicating canon content.

I can say that up until this point, we’ve been a little bit cagey about what’s Sacred Timeline, what’s not Sacred Timeline. That was born of, frankly, a period at the studio where we were like, ‘We have to stick the landing with the vendors.’ It was another part of the company developing the Netflix stuff. We were aware of what they were doing, they were aware of what we were doing, but there was a lot to balance anyway.”

This caution stemmed from a period when Marvel Studios was focused on concluding the Avengers storyline. However, as time has passed and the integration of stories has become more apparent, Winderbaum now expresses confidence in saying that the Netflix series. Winderbaum said,

“But now that some time has passed; now that we see actually how well integrated the stories are, I think that I personally, Brad Winderbaum, would be confident in saying it is part of the Sacred Timeline.”

Many fans are obviously happy about the fact that Daredevil is now officially canon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – something that they had been clamouring for many years. Now it remains to be seen how Cox’s return as the iconic character will fare.

Although Brad Winderbaum didn’t explicitly mention other Netflix shows, it is now presumed that they are also part of the MCU canon. This is because of the fact that pretty much every single Netflix Marvel show is related to Daredevil.

Characters like Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist were all heavily featured in The Defenders. Obviously, this means that Iron Fist could potentially get a redemption arc in the Marvel Cinematic Universe somehow. Iron Fist had 23 episodes across two seasons and it was largely viewed as the worst Marvel show on Netflix. Nonetheless, we might get to see the character return and do better this time around.
