“We were hooked on the side of a freezing rock for seven hours and with no crew around, no cameras, I was like ‘what’s going on here man’… Some of the places we filmed in were definitely challenging physically. I think we all felt some bonding over that.”

Affleck agreed with the Star Wars actor as well. As for the others, Charlie Hunnam joked that the only time he felt a brotherhood with the others was when the film wrapped. However, Garrett Hedlund stated that the camaraderie came like second nature to him.

This was because he had been friends with Hunnam for about 15 years and Isaac for close to a decade. However, to portray that brotherhood on-screen, they had to go a step further and know how soldiers interacted with each other.

In an interview with Screen Rant, the Pearl Harbor actor revealed the one thing that acted as the core of the commitment and bonding between all the actors on-screen. Ben Affleck said:

“We did the training, we worked together, we worked with people who trained us and tried to learn as much as we could. Also, we heard a lot about how people don’t die for a flag; they die for the guy next to them.”

Once they all understood it, it helped drive the film organically forward. Also, the fact that they all get along well, helped. Affleck said:

“We understood, that level of bonding and commitment to one another was gonna really drive the story, drive the plot, drive the character stuff, so it was kind of essential to it. You know, we just put in the time and genuinely like each other.”

Oscar Isaac and Ben Affleck haven’t worked together on any other project till now. But it would be great to see them bring their platonic chemistry onboard for another film.

Triple Frontier is on Netflix.
