Jenna Ortega Reveals Exciting Updates For Wednesday Season 2

During her conversation with Live From E!: Emmys host Laverne Cox, actress Jenna Ortega shared a bunch of information regarding the second season of Netflix’s Wednesday. She claimed they will delve more into the horror aspect of the show:

I’ve received some scripts now for the second season, and we’re definitely leaning into a little bit more horror. It’s really, really exciting because all throughout the show, Wednesday does need a bit of an arc. She never really changes, and that’s the wonderful thing about her.”

Furthermore, the Scream star revealed that every episode will have a lot of interesting and surprising plots, close enough to get a feel as if one is watching a film. Of course, it would not be a Wednesday show without the character’s on-brand witty remarks. Ortega added:

There’s some really good one-liners, and I think everything is bigger. It’s a lot more action-packed. I think each episode will probably feel a little bit more like a movie, which is nice.”

For Variety’s Actors on Actors segment, Ortega shared that they will ditch “any romantic love interest for Wednesday” as it made no sense for the character, according to the actress.

We’ve decided we want to lean into the horror aspect of the show a little bit more. Because it is so lighthearted, and a show like this with vampires and werewolves and superpowers, you don’t want to take yourself too seriously.”

In addition to her updates for the series’ second installment, Ortega admitted that Wednesday helped her break out of her shell and be more assertive in her work.

Showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar told Variety that they intended to make more seasons from the beginning. While success is never guaranteed, it’s always better to always plan ahead.

For us, it’s always looking at the future, and when we sit down to create a show, it’s looking at multiple seasons, ideally. That’s never expected, but that’s the anticipation that hopefully, the show is successful.”

Millar also added that they have a clear vision of what they wanted for the show, though they are open to developing or altering ideas to fit the current flow of the story.

You always lay out at least three or four seasons’ worth of potential storylines for the characters. It can evolve and change. We certainly have a pretty clear runway of what we want to do in future season.”

There is so much to look forward to in the second season of Netflix’s Wednesday, and fans surely cannot wait to see what adventures the characters will embark on. Production is also reportedly scheduled to start in April 2024.
