Despite the dense filmography of Taylor Sheridan involving Western ranches and criminal turf wars, his magnetic writing makes every story feel as grand and cinematic as it can get. With Yellowstone, the Dutton family tale is a specular and sprawling one filled with Machiavellian schemes and outright battles. Their story, although volatile, is also an addictive one that has quickly become beloved by millions of fans around the globe.

When it first premiered on Paramount Network in 2018, the Western was helmed by a set of cast and crew, dedicated to the scale and magnitude of the show. Now, after 7 years of thriving on the air, the drama intensifies as Kevin Costner’s exit leaves the crew rattled and the network on the edge of their seats trying to figure out a healthy and permanent solution.

Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone Inches Closer to Finish Line

Yellowstone did have to come to an end eventually but after being green-lit for Seasons 5,6, and 7, it feels like a bit of a let-down to have the show being ended at 5. With the Kevin Costner drama getting out of hand and the increasing exposure on the matter, there is a threat of a decline in ratings and viewership. However, with the studio canceling the series after Season 5B, there exists no way out but through.

Despite the Yellowstone cast and crew battling the elements and braving the constant scrutiny and controversy, the probability of Kevin Costner and Taylor Sheridan coming to a mutually beneficial agreement seems negligible. As such, the second part of Season 5 has already entered into production without any valid confirmation of Costner’s involvement in it as the patriarch John Dutton.

Rumors about a spin-off chronicling the Dutton family’s day-to-day with a different character as lead was in the air. Matthew McConaughey and Michelle Pfeiffer are strong contestants for the role even though a set deal is not in place for either of them.

Yellowstone Actor Begs to Differ on the Series Ending

Long before Chef Gabriel “Gator” Guilbeau arrived at Taylor Sheridan’s place of work, the multifaceted person of variable skills and talents joined the industry as a chef on sets and productions. After Yellowstone came along, the adventure of cooking and filming took him to windy landscapes, ranch farms, cliffsides, and mountaintops. Naturally, Chef Guilbeau’s attachment to the show runs deep.

When asked about Yellowstone coming to an end after Season 5 in an interview with Yahoo Entertainment, his response echoed the emotions of millions of other fans all across the globe:

I don’t want to say that it’s coming to an end because there’s so much more to do. We may be finishing this part of Yellowstone as it is, but we’re certainly not through with the story. We’re just through with this part of the story. Well, almost, if we ever go back to work and start filming again, we’ll be done with this part of the story.

Guilbeau’s consistent, upbeat, and nurturing presence on the sets of Yellowstone later earned him a fastrack ticket to stardom when Sheridan added a character for him to play in the beloved series. With an acting credit beside his name, Chef Guilbeau now has a published cookbook titled Yellowstone: The Official Dutton Ranch Family Cookbook.

Yellowstone is available for streaming on Paramount+ while Season 5B is expected to premiere in November 2024.
