The sixth and final season of Cobra Kai is officially underway as its first part releases on Netflix today. The William Zabka and Ralph Macchio starrer has had a profound journey from being a pop cultural milestone of the ‘80s to being a show on YouTube Red to finally being acquired by Netflix.
While the final season sees the two Karate Kids ready for battle in the Seikai Taikai, fans were disappointed to learn that like other Netflix finales, this too would be split into different parts. Despite fans’ disappointment, there seems to be some good news as the makers announced the second part will be arriving almost two weeks before schedule.

The upcoming season of the nostalgic hit show Cobra Kai will be the series finale. In true Netflix fashion, the final season is being split into three parts, which has caused quite an uproar among fans. The final season will see the Karate Kids get ready for the World Tournament i.e. Seikai Taikai. The first part was released on Netflix earlier today.
Part 2 of Season 6 was reportedly expected to be released on November 28. However, a new promo video of the show revealed that fans would get to witness the continuation of the show much earlier than shown. In a short video featuring the cast of the show, the new release date for Cobra Kai season 6 part 2 is November 15.

The video sees Gianni DeCenzo, Xolo Maridueña, and Jacob Bertrand sitting in a backlot while attending the premiere of the first part, preparing what to say. When the new release date is announced, the actors can be heard exclaiming, “We’re getting it early?”.
In a statement given at the premiere, the creators of the show reportedly said that the second part will be streaming on the same day as the Mike Tyson and Jake Paul fight (via Deadline).

Based on the iconic Karate Kid franchise, the show Cobra Kai initially began streaming on YouTube Red before the platform closed down and the series was acquired by Netflix. Splitting final seasons into multiple parts is not new to Netflix as many classic shows like Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, and The Sopranos have done it.
However, the William Zabka and Ralph Macchio starrer being split into three parts of fifteen episodes after two years of filming was an annoying update for fans. Still, creators Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Josh Heald mentioned to Gizmodo’s io9 that there was a reason for them to split the show into three parts.
While they wanted to end the series with the final season, they were sure that they needed more than ten episodes to finish the story arcs and hence, decided to make fifteen episodes. Hurwitz said,
This season, it was like, ‘Okay, well, three chunks of five would make sense.’ It’s almost like three acts in a bigger story. And that’s just something that we decided to do creatively. And when we talked about that with Netflix, they loved the idea of the three drops. And that’s where it came from. So we’ve known this for a very long time. And it is all by design.
A movie featuring William Zabka and Ralph Macchio as well as Jackie Chan is also in the works that is set to release in 2025.
