Fans of the actor got an inside look at Stallone’s decision to move out of California in the season 2 premiere of his reality TV series The Family Stallone, where Stallone announced his and his wife’s decision to relocate their family to Florida.
While the episode revealed details of the Stallone family’s move to the viewers, the logistics were already figured out as the episode was filmed back in 2023. Stallone sold his California residence at a loss as the family moved to their Florida mansion, which Stallone and his wife had purchased a few years earlier. Sylvester Stallone Sold California Residence For a Loss After Florida Move
On February 21, 2024, the second season of The Family Stallone premiered with the episode, Say Goodbye to Hollywood. The episode sees Sylvester Stallone and his wife, Jennifer Flavin, announcing to their family that they will be permanently leaving California and moving to Florida.
“After long, hard consideration, your mother and I have decided, time to move on and leave the state of California permanently, and we’re going to go to Florida. We’re gonna sell this house. We already have the place, it’s a done deal.”
Stallone made the above statement to his family in the episode, expressing a desire to sell his luxurious mansion in Los Angeles’ Hidden Hills neighborhood, which had been the family’s primary residence. However, the episode was filmed back in 2023, and by the time it aired, Stallone had already sold the house.
According to a report, Stallone purchased the LA residence only recently in 2022 for an estimated $18.5 million. However, Stallone sold the mansion to singer John Fogerty for a loss of $1 million. Fogerty reportedly bought the house from Stallone for $17.2 million despite the Rocky star’s initial asking price of $22.5 million.
Earlier in 2021, Stallone reportedly sold his Beverly Hills estate for a staggering $58 million to singer Adele. At the time it was speculated that Stallone and family would be moving to Florida full-time. However, the permanent move did not come to fruition until 2023.
Sylvester Stallone and Jennifer Flavin Explain Decision to Move to Florida
In late 2020, Stallone had already purchased a mansion in Florida, which reportedly cost the Rambo actor a whopping $35.4 million. The house is located in Palm Beach, Florida, and is spread across 1.5 acres. As per reports, Stallone and his family had been spending some time in their Florida residence over the past couple of years, before making the move permanent in 2023.
While speaking to Fox News in December 2023, Stallone’s wife, Jennifer Flavin, expressed excitement regarding moving the Florida. She said:
“It’s an incredible move, I have to say I’m really happy with our move and our change.”
Flavin added that a few of her and Stallone’s best friends had also moved away in recent years, making the move to Florida a fresh start for the couple. In the season 2 premiere of The Family Stallone, Flavin shed more light on the decision to move to Florida by stating the following:
“I raised all three of our daughters in California. Everything’s a memory to me, memories of them not being there anymore. So, I needed a big change, and Sly went along with it.”
Meanwhile, Stallone revealed in the same episode that he was initially unsure of the move because of his family’s roots and connection to California.
“We have a lot of roots in California, so it’s not an easy transition to Florida. But Jennifer really had her heart set on it. I gave in.”
Stallone made the above statement regarding his family’s move to Florida. Ultimately, it seems the Stallones had been planning a move for a while until it came to fruition in 2023. The primary reason behind the move as confirmed by Flavin is for her and Stallone to make a fresh start, especially since their daughters have now moved out.
