Why Iron Man 4 Never Happened?

The craze behind Iron Man is truly something else. The superhero that single-handedly ushered in a new era, now a gigantic presence in cinematic history, will forever be remembered as one of the most iconic superheroes ever.

Fans simply can’t get enough of Tony Stark. Consequently, when Robert Downey Jr. confirmed there would be an Iron Man 4, fans were immediately excited. But that promise was never fulfilled, and the fans were left waiting. Why is that so?

Firstly, the studio wanted to venture into riskier projects and try out new things rather than sticking to the same old formula. Additionally, the actor’s contract with the studio came to an end after the third film and the new contracts didn’t prioritize standalone films whatsoever, as the fans have already witnessed over the years following Iron Man 3.

Marvel also wanted to end Iron Man’s story on a more meaningful note and thus opted for Endgame rather than another sequel. And thus, the much-rumored project never came to be.

All Iron Man movies are streaming on Disney+.
