The decision by James Gunn and Peter Safran to take down the current DCEU and build their own vision atop the ashes of the old one had taken many fans by surprise, not to mention the controversial firing of Henry Cavill as Superman. But what made the Brightburn director optimistic about the outgoing regime of DC Films is the upcoming The Flash, which will completely reset the stage, both for the audience as well as the CEOs of the studios.

There was a lot of hype about what the upcoming film would entail with it, and how it will give a proper send-off to the fallen cinematic universe. With so much praise, most fans were convinced that Gunn would be delighted to bring Ezra Miller and his character into his vision of the DCU after this standalone flick, which doesn’t seem to be the case. At the premiere of Guardians Of the Galaxy Vol. 3, the director was asked what the future holds for Miller.
