After making his exit from the Marvel franchise, he will be appearing with Cillian Murphy in Christopher Nolan’s extremely anticipated film, Oppenheimer. In a recent interview, the Sherlock Holmes star revealed that Oppenheimer is in fact the best movie he has done. His statement has greatly angered Marvel fans.

Actors and audiences always have different perspectives of what a good film is. Audiences have their own parameters to judge what a good film is, and so do the actors. Even though their films may become the greatest hit in the world, actors might feel that it wasn’t too much of a good job. And this is what perhaps Robert Downey Jr had in mind when he declared that his latest film, Oppenheimer, is the best movie he has ever done. In an interview with Deadline, the star said,
“Just going to flat out say it: This is the best film I’ve ever been in. And I cannot wait for you all to experience it.”
While he holds every right to label his movies the best or worst, Marvel fans couldn’t stop themselves to call him out for forgetting the superhero masterpiece Avengers: Endgame. Many fans called him out, stating that Iron Man would forever remain his best character, and Endgame and the rest of the Marvel lineup were his best movies ever. Some even stated that the Iron Man star moved on a little too quickly after playing the character for nearly 11 years.
Robert Downey Jr Feels He Was Meant To Play Oppenheimer Role
The Dolittle star is a tremendous actor undoubtedly. No matter what character he gets, Robert Downey Jr has always managed to do a brilliant job, making the role forever iconic. While fans have regarded that he was born to play the role of Iron Man, the actor feels he was meant to play his Oppenheimer role.
“I don’t know why I can relate to Lewis Strauss so much, but I felt like I was meant to play this role, and I knew I’d be in capable hands. Oppenheimer has been a bit of a demarcation line for me.”
Whether it is Iron Man or Lewis Strauss, we are sure the Avengers star has raised the bar high for his fellow actors and will surely continue to do so in the future, leaving a grand mark on the cinema’s tapestry.
Oppenheimer will be in theatres on July 21.
