The feud between Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson has lasted for quite a while grabbing the attention of global headlines. While they both are successful action stars, the feud has been fueled by the evolving hatred that has developed on the set of their most popular action franchise.
There’s no denying that Diesel is irreplaceable from the Fast and Furious franchise but Johnson’s emergence in the series has highlighted the further success of the series while it also acted as a career push for the wrestler-turned-actor.
The Beginning of the Feud Between Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson
Rumors of the feud between Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson surfaced in 2016 when Johnson publicly revealed one of his male co-stars’ behavior on set left his blood “legit boiling.” Definitely, the Black Adam star was upset but he did not name his fellow actor at the time. “Some conduct themselves as stand-up men and true professionals, while others don’t,” Johnson said.
“The ones that don’t are too chicken s— to do anything about it anyway. Candy asses. When you watch this movie next April and it seems like I’m not acting in some of these scenes and my blood is legit boiling — you’re right.”
However, it did not take long, the conflict between the stars reached a boiling point when the fans caught up with the hint of their rivalry. Later, Johnson left the franchise after being featured in the spin-off of his character with Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw in Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw. Right after, the actor stated that he had no intention of getting back to the franchise.
In 2021, Diesel took to Instagram to ask the former wrestler to return to the franchise while Johnson said the post was downright “manipulation.”
“Vin’s recent public post was an example of his manipulation,” the Baywatch actor said reacting to Diesel’s post.
“I didn’t like that he brought up his children in the post, as well as Paul Walker’s death. Leave them out of it. We had spoken months ago about this and came to a clear understanding.”
Finally, as per reports and coming from the actor himself it is confirmed that the actors have resolved their issues.
Dwayne Johnson’s Luke Hobbs is Back
Johnson’s Luke Hobbs played an important role in the franchise. Realizing that the Fast X director Louis Leterrier convinced Johnson to return to the series. And he accepted and filmed a post-credit scene for the film confirming his return for the remaining movies of the franchise.
It appears that the beef between the stars has ended for good. The Moana actor is all set to appear in the next movie of the series and revealed in a tweet posted on 1st June that they have sorted their differences and promised to lead with brotherhood.
“Last summer Vin and I put all the past behind us. We’ll lead with brotherhood and resolve – and always take care of the franchise, characters & FANS that we love,” he wrote in the tweet.
Further, the actor revealed that he will star in a new standalone Hobbs movie.
“The next Fast & Furious film you’ll see the legendary lawman in will be the HOBBS movie that will serve as a fresh, new chapter & set up for FASTX: Part II”
In a video enclosed in the tweet, the actor said that he and Diesel have been “like brothers for years.”
Earlier, Fast X director Leterrier insisted upon the idea of bringing Johnson to the franchise to reprise his role. He stated the importance of the characters in the franchise saying that the series is “about the characters and the themes.”
Now that the actors have settled their scores, fans can expect a bigger bang on screen with more cinematic action using racing cars, and of course, a lot of gun blazing.
