In 2014, the Man of Steel actor teamed up with Durrell Wildlife Park to help conserve the world’s most endangered species. Since then, he has been the Durrell Wildlife Park ambassador.

Anyone who hasn’t heard of the Durrell Challenge should know that it is a 13km road racing event, kindly organized by Butterfield, that raises important funds to help fulfill the essential role of saving some of the most endangered species of wildlife. As the ambassador for Durrell Wildlife Park, Henry Cavill is also involved in this long-term effort to save the world’s threatened animals. The Enola Homes actor said he used to visit this park when he was a child.

When he teamed up with the Durrell Wildlife Park to contribute his bit for the endangered animals, he said,

“What they do is close to my heart and something that deserves close attention. I feel that saving the diversity of life on our planet will be seen as increasingly important in the not-too-distant future.”

As the 40-year-old actor is the ambassador of Durrell Wildlife Park and is also one of the most significant members of the park he attends the charity’s 50 field programs throughout the world.

In 2015, Cavill made headlines when social media was flooded with news of Cavill adopting a bat. The Batman Vs Superman actor adopted a fruit bat who had the same name as his co-star Ben Affleck. The bat’s name is Ben. Cavill’s pet Ben was a newborn fruitbat, and in the wild, fruit bats face major risks. The Durrell Wildlife Park wrote on their Facebook page,

“We’re delighted to announce that Henry has officially adopted Ben the bat. Henry dropped by for a visit and met little Ben and his mum Claudia.”

Cavill enjoys spending time with animals, and his Instagram feed is frequently loaded with adorable animal faces. The actor has an affinity for animals and wildlife. The 40-year-old actor has worked tirelessly to ensure that the Durrell Wildlife Park’s objectives are met. Cavill has a dog named Kal that he is very close to. While talking about his dog he said,

“What’s not great about Kal? He’s my best buddy. He’s stubborn. He drags a lot of attention away from me, which is excellent. He comes to set as well, and it’s just having that little bit of light there for me, personally, I love it.”

Cavill’s dog Kal also appeared in a Men’s Journal photoshoot with him in 2018. Both the actor and his fog posed on a motorcycle. Their photos were widely shared on social media.
