Disney Studios is known for delivering hits and The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise is no exception. There are primarily two reasons why it gained both love and critical acclaim from audiences, the first being the unique storyline, and the second being the Pirate himself, Johnny Depp.

The Disney Studios Motion picture hit The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise is currently known worldwide and has a separate fanbase. But one thing that most viewers might not know is that the franchise had the Avatar star in their first installment. Zoe Saldana played the role of a pirate smuggler named Anamaria who was recruited by Jack Sparrow. Despite Jack Sparrow sinking Anamaria’s ship, the franchise continued to thrive.

The Pirates of the Caribbean actress has now become renowned for her memorable and iconic roles such as Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) and Neytiri in Avatar (2009). Despite what truly established her as the reigning queen among all the Jacks is the first installment of the franchise, Pirates of the Caribbean. It is a surprise to many why she never came back despite such a head-turning role so early in her career.

It came as a surprise for both the producers and the audiences when they learned the MCU star has chosen not to sign for any further films related to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. In an interview with BBC Radio 1, Zoe Saldana said,

I really had a not-so-good experience because of just the poor management at that time, and Jerry Bruckheimer knows this, we spoke about it eventually,“.

The famous Star Trek actress also added that the producer of the film Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl Jerry Bruckheimer personally apologized to her on learning about the inconvenience she faced the further added,

I think he read somewhere where I had expressed my discomfort and disappointment, and years later he apologized, which felt really quite honorable actually, I have to say.

It might seem that both the Saldana and the producer of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise have dealt with it in a positive spirit. However, a return to the franchise remains an unlikely possibility. While there are currently no official confirmations regarding upcoming films in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, fans can only hope for the possibility of a sixth installment.
