The 75-year-old star is an ace actor, businessman, filmmaker, and politician. The Terminator star is loved by one and all for his excellent physique and thrilling action.
Schwarzenegger is undoubtedly considered as one of the greatest bodybuilders of all time. However, there was once a time when the Total Recall star hated looking at the mirror.
Arnold Schwarzenegger despised looking at the mirror
Arnold Schwarzenegger has been through a long journey from being an ace bodybuilder to an accomplished actor. The Last Stand star has great pride in his strong and muscular physique, which he has maintained over the years with hard work and dedication. However, there was a phase in his life when he started to dislike watching the mirror as he was aging.
Despite his chiseled physique, Schwarzenegger once confessed that he grew self-conscious about his body.
In a 2011 interview with Newsweek, Schwarzenegger revealed that it was difficult for him to accept his changing physique. He said,
“I feel terrific about where I am in my life when I look back at what I’ve accomplished. But I feel s***ty when I look at myself in the mirror.”
Though Schwarzenegger is still a fitness inspiration at 75, he was once bothered by his aging body.
“I’m not competing, I’m not ripping off my shirt and trying to sell the body. But when I stand in front of the mirror and really look, I wonder: What the f*** happened here? Jesus Christ. What a beating!”
Schwarzenegger once told The Hollywood Reporter,
“Old age sucks. Maybe I feel like that more than anyone else because I was Mr. Universe, Mr. Olympia, and at any given time could bench-press 500 pounds or do squats with 500 pounds and lift 700, and then all of a sudden you see your body no longer in shape even though you may be in better shape than anyone else at 71.”
The 6th Day actor found it difficult to deal with his old age as he remembers his physical stats in his youthful days.
Arnold Schwarzenegger’s lifestyle changes to fit his age
There was a time when the muscular beast, Arnold Schwarzenegger, used to sweat it out in the gym for hours. However, with old age, he has become careful of his workout routine to remain fit and healthy.
The Expendables 2 star once told Men’s Health,
“I’ve chosen to adapt to my age, make my workouts a little bit different, and focused on staying lean and avoiding injury. This is why I’ve moved away from free weights and stick to the workout machines.”
Schwarzenegger also revealed that he still hits the gym frequently as he enjoys working out. He said,
“I’m addicted to training, and I have to start my day in the gym. So today, even though my body won’t react the way it did 50 years ago, I can maintain as much as I can and it brings me great joy.”
Arnold Schwarzenegger is the lead and executive producer of the first ever TV project, an action-comedy spy series FUBAR. The series will start streaming on Netflix from 25th May 2023.
