With Episode 6 of Season 4, fans have taken to the internet to talk about what exactly is going on with The Boys. The show seems to be slow on the uptake, with little to no development happening in the overall plot.

In fact, the last episode of the show was bordering on a Herogasm level of debauchery, but with none of the great action or character work. However, the episode did set up the stakes that might pay off in later episodes, but that does not make up for how weird it was.

Fans are a little cheesed off about Episode 6 of The Boys Season 4

Firecracker in The Boys: Season 4

Fans have taken to the internet to figure out what exactly is going on with this season of The Boys. There is a general air of confusion in the fandom, where audiences feel that not enough is being done to work towards the end goal of the plot. However, the show has been a little more gross as compared to its previous seasons, without much substance to show for it.

While there seems to be a lot more profanity on screen this season, there are certain things in the show that still seem to be working towards a big pay off. To begin with, there is the scene with A-Train where the character sees the effect he has on the child when he acts as a genuine hero.

While this might be setting up the character to die, it is clear that A-Train has a bigger role to play in the episodes to come. Then, of course, there is Billy Butcher and the devil on his shoulder, Kessler, along with Antony Starr‘s Homelander and his new obsession, Firecracker.

Episode 6 of The Boys might not have done a lot of plot progression, but it has definitely managed to put characters on edge

Episode 6 had some key moments that were brilliant, possibly putting Butcher and Homelander on a collision course. Butcher just realized that the Kessler that he has been interacting with is in his head, just like Becca. This means that the thirst he has for killing Supes, even Ryan, Annie, and Kimiko, is deeply rooted in him.

Butcher has come to the conclusion that Homelander is his goal, and given that he has already descended to his past tactics, and the fact that Becca disappeared during a debate between her and Kessler, Billy Butcher might have realigned his goals to fight and kill Homelander, at whatever cost.

On the other hand, Homelander’s trust in his comrades is waning, as he cannot count on them when it matters. Further, Valorie Curry’s Firecracker seems to have gotten a firm grip on him since she has started catering to his needs, something that might utterly cripple Homelander as a character. Now, either this could make Homelander more stable, or as the plot progresses, make him more susceptible to whatever Firecracker wants him to do.

Given that the next season of the show is going to be the last, it would make sense that this Season ends on a massive cliffhanger, something that might be enabled by Butcher and Homelander being as emotionally unstable and vulnerable as they are.
