When James Cameron Had To Teach Zoe Saldaña How To Run

During the earlier shooting of Avatar, Zoe Saldaña wasn’t the highly popular actress that she is now. She found international fame and recognition due to her heroic role in the 2009 James Cameron-directed Avatar. What some people do not know is that it was actually Cameron himself who taught the actress how to run while on the sets of Avatar!

In the 2000 Dance/Musical movie titled Center Stage, Zoe Saldaña trained herself to be a competent enough ballet dancer. Seemingly recalling her memory, the actress stated that ballet dancers are advised not to run. The ‘no running’ instincts of hers collided with James Cameron’s vision as he would yell “cut” and ask the actress what she was doing.

In a YouTube video, Zoe Saldaña is heard saying the hilarious piece of advice that James Cameron gave to her while on the sets of Avatar.

“James Cameron said ‘girl! You don’t know how to run’ because you know, being a ballet dancer, there’s a lot of things that ballet dancers know how to do. You don’t really run, you’re discouraged from running and James would be like ‘Cut cut cut cut cut, what was that?’ and i’m like ‘well you told me to run from here to there'”.

The Adam Project actress further continued,

“‘That wasn’t running, what were you doing? Hey guys, we have to trade her, she has to start learning to run’ and that was just like an everytime I find myself going from A to B, I always think about that” the actress said with a smile.’

It seems that Zoe Saldaña managed to learn how to run as she went on to star in Avatar, Avatar: The Way of Water, and Guardians of the Galaxy, the three movies which have been revered by the audience as masterpieces.

Starring in the biggest blockbusters, Zoe Saldaña has made herself a name. One of her iconic roles was the character of Gamora in the James Gunn-directed Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. With the third and final installment of the film set to release next year, people are worried about Zoe Saldaña’s upcoming MCU projects and whether she will return to the role or not.

Although the actress stated that she cannot say no to anything, Saldaña did claim that she would not miss Gamora if the character were to end.

“I can never say no to anything, but that green makeup? I wouldn’t be upset if it didn’t happen again. I miss Gamora but I don’t miss 3.30 am calls and five-hour makeup sessions and trips to the dermatologist afterward.”

The above statements do not clarify further but it seems that Saldaña wouldn’t mind staying away from the green character. Zoe Saldaña reprised her role as Neytiri in James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water which is currently running in theaters worldwide.
