During the third edition of Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea International Film Festival, many A-listers appeared, including the duo. While they each walked the red carpet separately, they indeed crossed paths in the event.

Will Smith recently took to Instagram to give his fans a sneak peek at the Red Sea International Film Festival held in Saudi Arabia in early December. The post featured a couple of clips with one segment showcasing his interaction with Johnny Depp. The clip showed him hugging the City of Lies actor and later on chatting with the star. While this moment was captured for quite a short while, he didn’t shy away from posting about their interaction on social media. Check out the post below.

While he did not write or give much information on their interaction, he is the first major actor to openly showcase his bond with the latter. It is to be noted that the duo has not shared any on-screen history which made their recent encounter quite interesting. It is quite a big deal given that Depp has been in the headlines for a few years due to his ex-wife, Amber Heard. Their defamation lawsuit further piqued audiences’ interest in his personal life.

While Depp’s life has often garnered public attention, his relationship with actress, Amber Heard ended up dragging him in a negative light. Their tumultuous relationship began in 2016 when she filed for divorce after 15 months of their marriage. She also filed a temporary restraining order against her ex-spouse amid allegations of domestic violence. While the duo reached an agreement that year, things went ugly back in 2018 when she wrote an op-ed piece in The Washington Post claiming herself to be a domestic abuse victim. While she did not mention Depp by his name, he had to pay a hefty cost, especially in his professional career. The next year, he filed a defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife demanding $50 million as damages. The Aquaman actress countersued him for $100 million but lost the trial. Even though the rollercoaster trial ended in the Arizona Dream actor’s favor, his return to Hollywood is not all glamour. Nonetheless, he continues to walk steadily to regain his status in the industry.
