Avatar: The Legend of Korra gave us a glimpse in the lives of the Gaang after they defeated Fire Lord Ozai. Audiences saw Zuko, Toph, and Katara as members of the old guard who were still fighting the good fight against tyranny and separation. We were also introduced to their children and grandchildren, such as the Fire Lord in Korra’s time, Izumi.
While it was assumed that Zuko would start his family with Mai, the Avatar novels that were set after the main series revealed that the duo had actually broken up. This puts Izumi’s parentage into question, something that fans have a lot of speculations about.
From Ty Lee to Azula (yes, his sister Azula), everyone is on the list
A post on The Last Airbender subreddit took it upon itself to figure out who the mother of Zuko’s child was, and the theory ranged from reluctantly plausible to very, very out there.
While there are a lot of possibilities about who could be Zuko’s partner after he split with Mai, sometimes the best answer is the one that is the most simple. While it might be possible that Zuko had a child with a character of note, it must be remembered that Toph sired two children with two different fathers that no one knows about. It could be a similar case for Zuko.
Zuko was the Fire Lord, and it must be noted that he existed in a system where family mattered a lot. This would mean that there would be a lot of people vying to marry Zuko off to their daughters in a bid to gain power, which would elevate their social status, and also make their child mother to the empire’s heir.
While Zuko, Aang, Katara, and Toph had children, it is odd that Sokka died before he could have any
The entry of the Gaang had children, who made an appearance in The Legend of Korra. However, it was odd that despite adult Sokka making an appearance in the story, there was no mention of any children that the character might have had. Even Suki was not mentioned in a story that was rife with callbacks to Avatar: The Last Airbender.
While introducing Sokka’s children might have extended the cast a little too much, it is odd that the character died without having any, given the characterization that fans were familiar with over the course of Avatar: The Last Airbender.
While there are some theories that suggest that Bumi, Aang’s eldest son, was actually Sokka’s child whom Katara and Aang adopted in the wake of his death, the official canon suggests that Sokka did not have any progeny to speak of at all.
