Last year James Gunn and Peter Safran announced the first slate of projects for the DCU, Chapter One: Gods and Monsters. And, Batman The Brave & The Bold is one of the most anticipated DCU projects coming out. While making the announcement, Gunn confirmed that the DCU would be getting a new Batman and Ben Affleck’s iteration of the character would retire.
With Batman meeting Damian being the focus of this story, it would appear that DC Studios is looking for an actor who can play the Caped Crusader in his prime. Although James Gunn has remained silent on potential Batman castings, some fans already have their own thoughts about who could be cast as the DCU’s Caped Crusader. Jensen Ackles is certainly fan-favorite choice for the role of Batman in the upcoming movie. But fans share other names as well.
Fans Share Their Thoughts On Who Should Play DCU’s Batman
As anticipation for the The Dark Knight role builds up, fans can’t keep quiet. They have been advocating for their own choice for the last few months.
Michiel Huisman would be cool, it's a very interesting choice. I like Josh Harnett, he is already 45, but maybe that could work.

My choices' Scott Eastwood and Ethan Peck, especially him because he's grandson of the legendary Gregory Peck whom David Mazzucchelli used as likeness for Bruce Wayne in the comic book "Batman: Year One." In my opinion, he would be especially funny for this very reason pic.twitter.com/NLiKV0Il9o

No doubt, to find the right person to play the Dark Knight there will be an extensive search. But fans already see few actors who seem destined to defend the citizens of Gotham City.
Jake Gyllenhaal
Jake Gyllenhaal, one of the most recognizable actors in Hollywood has showed his versatility and ability to embody emotionally complex roles. Also, he is 43 now and considering DCU’s plan for The Brave and the Bold to portray the hero as father, he seems to be perfectly fit for the role. He also possesses the appropriate look and charm to play Batman.
Scott Eastwood
Son of legendary actor Clint Eastwood, Scott Eastwood is known For Fate of the Furious and Fury and has been a popular fan choice for a different superhero roles throughout the years, and one of them is Batman. He is 37 now and if given the opportunity, he might be ready to take up Batman’s mantle. He has never played any leading role in his career and if he steps into this iconic role, it could prove as a great boost up for his future. He has that charm and potential to take up this role.
Henry Cavill
Fans were hurt when Henry Cavill decided to say goodbye to Superman. But he could be a consideration for the role of Batman. Prior to Man of Steel, he was one of the choices for the role of Batman in Batman Begins. Even James Gunn also said that few actors from DCEU could return to DCU. We have seen him playing gruff character in The Witcher. So, is there a chance? It would be an interesting return, for sure.
Josh Hartnett
When Batman Begins was under development, this name was linked with to play Bruce Wayne. But it never went far from that stage. He declined that part for which he still regrets. Now fans are tossing up his name for the role in DCU’s upcoming film as Batman. The 45-years-old could lend the role and show his talent and become a good pick.
Michiel Huisman
The Dutch actor is not an obvious pick but his work in shows such as Game of Thrones and The Haunting of Hill House showed his charm and physicality. And fans think that he can become a great Batman. Though he is not quite fan favorite like Gyllenhaal or the other mentioned in the list, if given the chance he, with his vast range of performances, some believe that he would take this role seriously.
