Henry Cavill has always managed to leave fans speechless with his performance, may it be his role as Superman, the Witcher, or just a typical anti-hero spy with Tom Cruise.

Before taking on the legendary role of Superman in films like Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Henry Cavill reportedly spent his time playing video games like Skyrim and World of Warcraft. In an interview with Conan back in 2016, Cavill reminded everyone of his World of Warcraft days, claiming that his time playing the game nearly cost him the role of Superman.

Henry Cavill was pissed at Zack Snyder for bothering him while playing video games

He talked about how his favorite hobby with his brothers was playing an online death match of a first-person shooter game. He spoke poetically about Skyrim, a fantasy role-playing game he’d been playing in single-player mode for a long time.

Henry Cavill claims he was in the middle of a dungeon when his phone rang. Instead of answering the phone right away, as someone waiting for a callback to play Superman might, the Man of Steel actor simply let it ring. He was like, ‘’Who the fuck is this bothering me? I’m playing World of Warcraft!’’ He then looked up to see who was calling and realized it was director Zack Snyder. Snyder had already hung up before Cavill could answer the phone.

Of course, we know that everything worked out for Cavill because he is now the star of DCU and is reprising his role as Superman once again. However, it’s weird to imagine that World of Warcraft, of all things, nearly cost him the part of one of history’s most iconic superhero characters.

Henry Cavill loves playing Video Games

We all know, from Henry Cavill’s The Witcher interviews, that the actor is fond of playing video games. He used to spend his time playing games like Skyrim, The Witcher 3, World of Warcraft, or some first-person shooter games.

Cavill’s obvious fondness of video games suggests that he would be willing to reprise his role as Superman in an open-world Superman game. After all, the Witcher star was supposedly so engrossed in World of Warcraft that he nearly missed out on the largest role of his career to date, so it seems to reason that he would want to be more connected with the gaming business in a meaningful position.

Gaming is no longer the esoteric passion it once was, therefore anticipate celebrities to publicly disclose their video gaming hobbies to become more prevalent. This is likely to be especially true for younger celebrities who have had the opportunity to grow up with video games, such as Henry Cavill and Ronda Rousey, and eventually, there will be more celebrity gamers in the future.
