Barry Keoghan has very quickly risen through the ranks of Hollywood and taken a front seat in mainstream media. While there is no denying that he is a talented actor and has even been a part of several critically acclaimed projects, his name was still fairly unknown until the past year.
All of a sudden, not only was he the lead starring in one of the most talked about films of the year, but he was also in a relationship with a pop star that no one could get their eyes off.
Keoghan’s relationship with Sabrina Carpenter has been adorable from the outside. Although there have been some negative comments here and there, fans cannot help but swoon every time they are spotted together.
The actor recently starred in the music video for Carpenter’s song Please, Please, Please, and interestingly enough, it seems to be morphing into other aspects of his professional life. Fans cannot help but see the Joker in his eyes as they stare into his girlfriend.
Barry Keoghan and Sabrina Carpenter’s Hard Launch
Earlier this week, Sabrina Carpenter teased that she would be releasing a new single from her new album, Short n’ Sweet. Titled Please, Please, Please, to say fans were excited would be an understatement. However, as soon as its music video was released, they were left speechless. The video starred Barry Keoghan as the love interest, who happens to be a criminal whom Carpenter fell for.
Although the pair had been spotted together a number of times and even walked some red carpets together, they had yet to make an appearance as grand as this. The video has a lot of its viewers in a chokehold, as not only do both the singer and the actor look excellent in the video, but their chemistry is through the roof.
However, many fans could not help but focus on one aspect of Keoghan’s career and complain about how badly a director may have messed up.
Fans Are Getting Ideas For The Joker
As soon as the music video for Please, Please, Please was released, fans could not help but compare the character Barry Keoghan was playing in it to his performance as the Joker. He has famously been cast in the role, making a cameo in the final moments of the 2022 Batman film. While no one is challenging his casting, many are questioning the character design chosen by director, Matt Reeves.
While the Joker is known for having scars on his face, Batman took it several steps further, making it so that most of his face is covered in scar tissue. This means that very little of his acting skills will be visible through his face, and he will have to rely on other means.
this guy has such a good natural joker face why did they have to cover him up in a shit ton of scar makeup https://t.co/saHkvhZMK8

in the movie you can't fully see his face so there's still time for him to change how he looks but god what a fumble of a casting in terms of design pic.twitter.com/NObM1Mj1cz

My hope is he still fell into chemicals and it’s just burns that are healing

Although audiences did not have much of an issue with such an approach earlier, they seemed to be rethinking the decision now that they truly know what Keoghan looks like as a criminal.
The charm, charisma, and hint of insanity that he possessed in Sabrina Carpenter’s music video seem to have hypnotized fans. They cannot help but demand a change in his design as the Joker and make Keoghan shine more than his prosthetics.
