Denis Villeneuve returned with the much-awaited sequel of 2021’s Dune recently, and the film has exceeded all expectations and delivered a satisfying sequel. Dune: Part Two also saw the return of Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides and Villeneuve believes Chalamet has evolved as an actor by the time he did Part 2.
In an interview with Screenrant, Villeneuve states that Chalamet has evolved from a boy in Dune to a man in Dune 2. Villeneuve further praises Chalamet’s range as an actor and expresses how moved he was in certain scenes due to his magnificent performance. He said,
“It was, for me, phenomenal to see him becoming [a man]. He was a boy in Part 1, and then bringing this boy to being a man; to become that charismatic dark figure, to become this power that is the Lisan al-Gaib on the screen.
I thought Timothée did a fantastic job, and I was moved many times to see how he, as an actor onscreen, gets much more confident and even better on set as he became a real leading man.”
Chalamet may arguably be the most interesting actor of the current generation, and his potential as an actor is limitless. He is considered by many as the next Leonardo DiCaprio and is sure to win an Oscar one day.
