Among the plethora of MCU’s Disney Plus releases that made their debut in the underwhelming phase four, not many of them were able to leave a prolonged impression on fans. But among all the shows, the hype surrounding Oscar Isaac’s Moon Knight was extremely high, as it was going to be the 1st MCU show to be based on a new character that wasn’t introduced in previous MCU projects.
Although the show started on a good note and remained one of the better Disney plus releases in Phase Four, over the releases of numerous underwhelming MCU products, it kind of lost into obscurity. But recently Oscar Isaac’s Moon Knight once again has created some buzz around it but not for the right reasons.
Fans claim that the fighting style of Oscar Isaac’s Moon Knight is too similar to Nightwing
For a long while, comic book fans have debated whether DC hero Nightwing would be able to defeat Moon Knight in a standalone battle and the answers to this question vary from person to person. However, Oscar Isaac‘s Moon Knight recently captured the attention of fans, after some pointed out the similarity between some of its action sequences with the fighting style of Dick Grayson’s Nightwing.
Considering that Nightwing is known for fighting with his iconic Escrima sticks, fans could witness the similarity and influence of Nightwing’s fighting style in one of Moon Knight‘s action sequences.

Although whether the sequence itself was inspired by Dick Grayson’s fighting style remains up for debate, the inspiration for the Dune star for the series initially came as a little surprising to some fans.
Oscar Isaac took inspiration from British comedians for Moon Knight
Before Moon Knight made its debut on Disney Plus, it was being deemed as one of the darkest MCU tales to date in comparison with other lighthearted Marvel releases. So it’s reasonable to see why Oscar Isaac’s inspiration for the role initially came as a surprise to some fans, as the Dune star revealed that he took inspiration from many British comedians for his MCU role. The actor explained,
“I thought, ‘what’s an energy that I haven’t seen in the MCU before? Like, what if someone asked Peter Sellers to be in a Marvel movie?’. And then I thought of Karl Pilkington… And there’s something a little bit naturally introverted about him, which I really liked a lot. I also listened to Russell Kane, the comedian. And then, really, it was about finding the [character]’s emotional place.”
However, upon its release, his inspirations became evident, as apart from playing a dark brooding lead, the story also comprises its fair share of humor, following the character’s dissociative identity disorder,
