It’s been quite some time since Gina Carano was fired from her role as Cara Dune from Disney+’s flagship series The Mandalorian, and for just as long, she has been vocal about how Disney and Lucasfilm made the wrong decisions. Now, it seems like even Elon Musk is getting behind Carano’s fight against the entertainment giant.
It was revealed recently that the actress will finally take the next step in her allegations and sue Disney and Lucasfilm for wrongful termination and discrimination that she faced. Thus, sticking to his promise to support anyone who was wrongfully discriminated against on his X platform, Musk is willing to financially aid Carano with her lawsuit.
Elon Musk Has Pledged To Provide Financial Aid To Gina Carano For Her Lawsuit Against Disney
Back in 2021, Lucasfilm revealed that they would be removing actress Gina Carano from their premier series The Mandalorian going forward due to a series of tweets and posts that she made on Twitter (now X) that supported seemingly right-wing ideologies and opinions. Since then, she has been going through the proper channels to get herself reinstated on the show.
And now, as all doors seem to close for her, she has taken the next step and decided to sue Disney and Lucasfilm because she alleges that she was discriminated against because she didn’t share the same viewpoints on several different matters that the company has.
And staying true to his promise to support anyone who was previously or recently discriminated against on X for voicing their views and opinions, Elon Musk has financially extended his hand to the actress. Providing an official statement on this financial aid extension from the CEO of the platform (via The Hollywood Reporter), X’s Head of Business Operations Joe Benarroch said:
“As a sign of X Corp’s commitment to free speech, we’re proud to provide financial support for Gina Carano’s lawsuit, empowering her to seek vindication of her free speech rights on X and the ability to work without bullying, harassment, or discrimination.”
Carano also alleges that her original tweets and posts were twisted in a way that would make her look like the villain and would justify her firing.
What Are The Details Of This Lawsuit?
With the legal proceedings now having the world’s richest man backing up the former MMA fighter financially, there are not a lot many things that the actress demands for winning the case.
With the details of the lawsuit now public, it states that if the verdict is given in the actress’ favor, then Disney and Lucasfilm will have to reinstate her back on the show. She has claimed the company acted on wrongful discharge and sex discrimination. For compensation, she has demanded $75,000, plus punitive damages.
The Mandalorian, streaming on Disney+.
