Nia Long shares her regret for not getting the role of Neytiri in Avatar

In an interview with The Cut, Nia Long expressed her love and respect for James Cameron’s Avatar and its sequel. And even though the actress has commended Zoe Saldana for her immaculate performance as Neytiri in both of the movies, the actress shared that she was initially upset after the filmmakers didn’t even consider her for the role of Neytiri. The actress stated,

“I’ve felt passed over on things, for sure. There have been moments like, ‘Why wasn’t I considered for that?’ Like, why wasn’t I considered for Avatar? I wasn’t even a topic of discussion, you know? A lot of times, to be fair, directors know in their minds who they want. It’s happened to me, and it’s not happened for me.”

The You People actress has also been optimistic about her future in the industry and is hopeful that someday she will get the opportunity to be a part of the beautiful world of Pandora.
