While there is no denying that Marvel has a lot of talent within itself, it is also important to remember that not everyone may be suited for it. Recently, rumors have started to stir about an actor who is in talks to join the beloved franchise, and fans do not seem happy.

A Former DC Actor Is Rumored To Be Joining The MCU

It was recently reported by MyTimeToShine on X that Batman actor George Clooney is in talks with Marvel Studios to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While there has been no official confirmation of this speculation or what character he could be playing, the choice would not be surprising. In the past, the franchise has had a pattern of going for both: A-list actors and lesser-known faces.

Clooney is one of the most well-known actors in the film industry through his work in films like The Ocean’s film series, From Dusk Till Dawn, and Good Night, and Good Luck. He also has two Oscar wins and eight nominations under his belt. Additionally, he has experience in the world of superheroes, having played the role of the Caped Crusader in 1997’s Batman & Robin.

Unfortunately for him, this film, as a whole, has been regarded as one of the worst of all the live-action attempts at the character. Perhaps, due to this mishap, fans are finding it difficult to imagine him in the MCU or trust him to be a good fit for it.

Fans Are Sceptical

As soon as the rumors hit the internet, fans were quick to voice their opinions on the matter. Knowing just how talented and respected George Clooney is in the film industry, one would expect the reactions to be nothing but positive. However, surprisingly, Marvel fans do not seem pleased with the possibility.

Many pointed out that, although they respect him as an actor, they cannot imagine what character would suit his specialties. They do not think that he has the right traits to be a part of the franchise. At the same time, some fans think that the franchise needs fresh faces and should no longer hire from the top of the industry.

While a lot of the conversation surrounding the rumors was negative, some fans did want to see the positive in the prospect. Some character names were thrown around, ranging from an antagonist to Nick Fury, a variant of the Green Goblin, and Doctor Doom himself.

Considering just how polarizing the conversation has been about the possibility of George Clooney joining the MCU, it is safe to say that the actor would have to prove himself very well if the rumors are true.
