Who is Peter Parker? Almost the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe forgot Parker’s identity including his beloved Michelle “MJ” Jones-Watson. Tom Holland’s Spider-Man faced the inevitable spell of Doctor Strange in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
However, Strange’s spell just didn’t work on Hulk, at least, a wild fan theory tends to be synonymous with that. Also, the same has been depicted in the Marvel comics as Hulk was the only one in the MCU to remember Parker’s true identity, but as the theory delved into the reason behind it, evidently a clear picture came out of it.
An MCU Theory Claims Hulk Is Immune to Doctor Strange’s Spell
In an utter necessity, Doctor Strange had to make the world forget the existence of Peter Parker with a spell. Of course, fans were sad seeing Parker’s love interest and best friend not recognizing the hero but one fan theory speculates that Hulk was immune to the spell.
Following the great memory wipe of MCU by Strange, Hulk could have been in his human form, Bruce Banner. It was further evident in the post-credit scene of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings in 2021 when Banner appeared in the human form in a hologram suggesting that he was probably in the human form when the spell was cast, not in his current Smart Hulk phase.
Remarkably, Banner’s alter ego was not affected by the spell and remembers Parker as Spider-Man as it was depicted in The Immortal Hulk: Great Power, by Tom Taylor and Jorge Molina. Parker was shocked when Hulk asked, “What are you doing, Peter?” In the comic book, he responded, “Wait, did you just call me Peter?” and this is where it gets interesting, Hulk said, “You made everyone forget who you are. Banner forgot but I don’t forget.” Of course, Parker was happy seeing someone remembering his identity.
Tom Holland Reflects on the Future of His Spider-Man
Spider-Man: No Way Home has been one of the MCU’s most successful movies with an astounding $1.9 billion worldwide box-office collection. Of course, Marvel would want to bring another installment to the franchise, or perhaps more. However, Spider-Man star Tom Holland is rather eager to explore other potential roles outside the premise of the MCU. Speaking with GQ, Holland said:
“Maybe it is time for me to move on. I have to take Peter Parker into account as well because he is an important part of my life. If I’m playing Spider-Man after I’m 30, I’ve done something wrong.”
The 27-year-old went on to clear the essence of his statement, saying, “I don’t know what the future of Spider-Man looks like. I don’t know whether I’m going to be a part of it.” For now, it is all up to the Marvel Studios but Holland would happily walk away when his time in the MCU as Spider-Man expires yet Spider-Man will always live in him.
