Hollywood is infamous for feuds between artists and one that gained a lot of traction last year was surrounding Olivia Wilde and Marvel star Florence Pugh. While Wilde was the director, Pugh was her lead star opposite the One Direction fame Harry Styles. The reports of their feuds garnered attention last year, and they are back again as new rumors have swelled up claiming Wilde would often abandon the film site in order to spend time with her then-partner, Styles.

Don’t Worry Darling was released in 2022 and received a lukewarm reception, but the saga of rumors doesn’t seem to end, with a new one turning up every now and then.

Don’t Worry Darling featured Florence Pugh opposite Harry Styles in the 2022 thriller horror, directed by Olivia Wilde. While the movie did not gain significant attention, what happened on the sets seems to have become a more popular feat. It was reported by multiple sources that Wilde and Pugh were involved in an on-set feud. And the reason was that the Her star would disappear from time to time with her then-boyfriend Harry Styles.

During this time, Florence Pugh had to often take over the directing part since the director herself would be missing from the sets. However, a new source has claimed that it was in fact Matthew Libatique, the movie’s Director of Photography, who would end up directing multiple scenes during Wilde’s disappearance.

“On the days Wilde disappeared, Florence [Pugh] and Matthew [Libatique] were in charge but I’d say it was more Matthew who kept the shoot rolling. They couldn’t really afford to have the movie shut down so he tried to follow Olivia’s vision as much as he could. Once Olivia got back on set, as if nothing had happened, that’s when Pugh lost it on her.”

Despite these rumors all over the news, the Black Widow star has never once denied them and was even absent from most of the movie’s promo tours.

Many crew members were quick to issue statements regarding the supposed on-set feud between the leading actress and the director last year. They alleged that there was nothing but harmony on sets, and all such allegations were nothing but false. Even the movie’s Director of photography, who is being claimed to be the man behind directing, issued a similar statement.

“Whatever happened, it happened way after I left and started doing something else. I was never witness to anything and I didn’t feel anything. You know, you get a feeling that there might be something going on, and I didn’t feel anything. We are happy to put our names on this, as real people who worked on the film, and who have witnessed and benefitted from the collaborative and safe space Olivia creates as a director and leader.”

While Matthew Libatique did quell such rumors, his apparently vague statement ‘I was never witness to anything’ seems to be hinting that there were in fact certain unpleasant occurrences on set and they might be something to do with Wilde and Pugh.

Don’t Worry Darling can be streamed on Amazon Prime.
