Will Ferrell who played the role of Mattel’s CEO in the film, recognized the importance of what Gerwig was attempting very early on. The actor in an interview with E! News during the 2024 Golden Globes, believed that Barbie deserved all the love and praise that it received.

“I love that people flocked to see it and they deserve every accolade. I’m so happy for Greta [Gerwig] and for Margot [Robbie] and Ryan [Gosling]. When I read that script, I was like ‘this is going to be huge.'”
