The Straw Hat Pirates’ progression from a low-level pirate crew to the youngest Yonko group in One Piece is the consequence of not only adventures, battles, and parties, but also the sacrifices made by many other characters for the crew. Characters like Pedro, Ace, Going Merry, etc. have given their lives so that Luffy and his crew can keep moving forward.
This is why Luffy has made sure that their sacrifices do not go to waste by doing everything in his power to achieve his dream. He has battled warlords and emperors, and now he is fighting against the strongest villains in the story: the Five Elders. His attempts to escape Egghead Island have been laid to waste as the ship has been attacked by Nusjuro.
However, the recent spoilers for One Piece chapter 1120 have revealed that another character from the series might have sacrificed her life to save the Straw Hats from Nusjuro. This has led to fans getting emotional once again as they prepare themselves for the death of the One Piece character, Atlas (one of Vegapunk’s satellites).
Atlas Sacrificed Her Life For The Straw Hats
One Piece chapter 1119, which was released on July 1, 2024, was filled with twists as the chapter not only saw Franky using Haki but also Luffy and the Iron Giant destroying the Five Elders one after another. As Luffy attacked Marcus Mars and Ju Peter, the Iron Giant was able to land a punch on Topman Warcury.
Now the only two elders left are V. Nusjuro and Saturn. While Saturn is nowhere to be seen on the battlefield, Nusjuro is attacking the Thousand Sunny, which is carrying half of the Straw Hat Pirates and Lilith. The recent spoilers for One Piece chapter 1120 reveal that as Nusjuro is about to land another attack on the ship, he is confronted by Atlas.
Atlas first knocks Lilith out so that York cannot detect her, and then she grabs Nusjuro and flies away with him using her jetpack. When she reaches a safe distance, she detonates herself so that the Straw Hats can get some additional time to escape from the island.
One Piece Fans Are Not Ready for Another Sacrifice
Atlas sacrificing herself for the Straw Hat Pirates is the most unexpected thing for One Piece fans. With York being the betrayer, only Lilith and Atlas were left, who were going to escape Egghead Island with the Straw Hat Pirates. And now, after Atlas’ sacrifice, it seems like Lilith will be the only one who will travel with the Straw Hat crew.
However, right now, One Piece fans are sad about Atlas giving her life to allow the Straw Hats to escape. As soon as the spoilers hit the internet, One Piece fans came together to express their sorrows.
While some fans thanked Atlas for sacrificing herself, others were just sad about the unexpected death of another Vegapunk satellite.

Atlas detonating herself to save Luffy and the crew might be one of the most emotional moments for the Straw Hat Pirates in Egghead Island arc and it will certainly not sit well with Luffy as Atlas gave food to Luffy and One Piece fans saw what happened last time when someone gave Luffy food when he was hungry.
